A song

Oh where, oh where have my readers gone?
Oh where, oh where can they be?
The numbers were high, but it seems I've gone wrong.

I try not to do much navel gazing here, but I'm baffled. Before January 20th, I was averaging 1000 views a day pretty consistently. After January 20th? Well, it's just been over 200. I don't even think of myself as that political in content. J. tells me that I really shouldn't let my inner conspiracy theorist out of the closet, and I won't. She's too busy planning food supplies with my inner prepper anyway. 

What's my point here? I don't actually know. But I do want to thank my small but faithful group of readers. I'll keep writing regardlessly because how else will I know what I think and what would we do without the family record?

But it just seems weird.

Good morning! I've been a faithful reader (but obviously lurking and not commenting) of your blog for probably 10 years now. I really enjoy all your posts and have shared some with friends and family who have similar interests. Thank you for continuing the posting despite the drop in readership. Maybe everyone is just hunkering down at the moment. Also, a special thank you for the reminder of the Mrs. Pollifax book series. I read most of them about 30 years ago, and have enjoyed listening to them while doing my daily activities lately. Have a great day!

I've been a faithful reader for years, too, even though I rarely comment. At least you know that the 200 readers left are able to do a spot of critical thinking and agree with you on the important points. ❤️

I’ve been a faithful reader since the early years during your first adoption living in the “Big Ugly House.” But I’m also not much of a commenter. I check in daily and have enjoyed your posts throughout the years. I’ve especially loved all the fiber posts:)

Sew, Mama, Sew! Giveaway

Sew, Mama, Sew! is hosting another giveaway day , the day where many bloggers giveaway things they have made or supplies to make things or both.  It is great fun to visit a lot of blogs and try to win cool stuff.  So fun that I thought I would participate this year. I had great hopes of making a set of coordinating mother/daughter aprons.  But reality reared its ugly head and I came to terms with the fact that my time is not limitless.Instead of aprons,  I must continue to spend quality time with yards and yards of red plaid flannel.  What am I making?  Well, as I tell my children, it is the season not to ask questions... A little adoption history and pontificating

A little distance is always good before writing on a tough subject. I think I can tackle this rationally now, though I may step on a few toes. We'll see. As some of you may know, yesterday the State department issued a notice saying that China, as of the end of August, has closed their intercountry adoption program. This is across the board and regardless of whether a family has been matched with a child or not. This has been exceedingly hard news for the Chinese adoption community.  I think I need to fill you in on some background before I continue because I realize not everyone lives in this world. (This is an extremely cursory and very simplified history.) China began allowing intercounty adoptions in 1992.
