Weekly update - June 8, 24
It's been a very busy two days, so the update is a day late.
- Yesterday was my birthday. To celebrate, J. and I went on a date to Costco and spent two more hours driving around getting all the last minute things the four leaving for Guatamala needed.
- J. and I did get to go out to dinner, so that redeemed the endless errands.
- Tomorrow K., Y., L. and G. need to be at the airport at 6:00 am. The airport is about an hour away, so it will be a very early morning.
- Yesterday was also spend spraying clothes because some mosquito borne diseases do not have vaccines.
- I spent the day demonstration weaving at Fine Line Creative Arts Center for their arts ramble, a type of open house/art fair. As always it was lot of fun.
- On top of all the errands yesterday, we also had a pony rodeo. When I went out to give the ponies their lunch, I didn't hear them yelling at me which was odd. So I paused to locate them, but... no ponies. There were no ponies because somehow the dry lot gate had opened and they had gone to join the big horses. I found them all together happily eating grass. They were happy, but I was not. We've worked so hard to get Vienna healthy the last thing I wanted was a relapse. J. and I first tried to walk up to the ponies to put their halters on. Silly us. There was no way, once having obtained freedom and grass, that they were going to go willingly. Matters were not helped by Emmy deciding that she liked having everyone together and was actively trying to foil our efforts at pony catching. There was a lot of running. Eventually we herded everyone into the dry lot and led the big horses out individually. Emmy is still annoyed. But the good news is that neither pony has come up lame and when winter comes and there's no fresh grass, there will be no problem letting them all out together.
- If I had unlimited funds, I'd put in a track system on limestone so they could all be together through the whole year.
- I have so many books I need to read.
- The van is well and truly on its last leg. J. has been talking to car dealers to find something that can seat eight and that we can afford. I am both excited to not have stress every time I need to drive somewhere and very much not excited to have a car payment again.
- I am not a car person.
And that's about it; 4:30 am is going to come early tomorrow morning.
