Weekly update - June 21, 2024

This week hasn't been nearly as productive as last week was, so I'm not sure what I'll have to share.
  • The lack of productivity was not due to the fact that we were back to having six children at home, but because of the heat. Well, the heat and the fact that our air conditioning has stopped working. We're pretty sure that the system is as old as the house which makes it forty years old. And having just had to buy a car and are scrounging enough money to pay the upcoming property taxes, there is absolutely nothing left to fix the air conditioning. It's been a lot of sitting very still.
  • Well, those with a new PS5 have been sitting still while working a controller. It's pretty much been the ideal scenario for having a new gaming system because there really very little else for them to do.
  • Yesterday, J. drive K. to Iowa for him to stay with my brother for a couple of weeks. K. really likes cows in theory and now he'll get to see if he likes them in reality. This means that K. has been sharing pictures of cows.

  • And my brother has sent me a couple pictures of K.
  • A.'s cat, Juniper, really likes Kenzie's bed and this is how we find her every single day during the heat.

  • Pretty much all the cats spend their time melting in one place and then another.
  • It may be hot, but I have managed to keep all the new plants alive. This, if you ask my children, is no small accomplishments.
  • We have only 150 pages left in Lonesome Dove, but I think I might have to renew it one last time. It says something about a book that when I mentioned we were getting close to the end, people were disappointed. Just to remind you, we've been reading it since January. Everyone is still holding their breath, though, to see if favorite characters will survive to the end.
  • It was lovely on Thursday to have a car to do errands in. It was so stress free! I may be the first early convert to the new car. Most everyone else is still grumbling that it's not "our" van.
And that's about it. Truly very little has happened other than sweating.
