Weekly update - December 22, 2023
I think I'm going to be ready for Christmas.
- I also think that I am a car jinx. We just paid for a very expensive repair on J.'s car. When I took it to take R. to a doctor's appointment, it was acting oddly. Halfway there I realized that I wasn't going to make it and found a place to stop the car. (I'm getting far too much practice with this particular skill.) After a lot of figuring out what to do, we got it towed. Of course it was something unrelated to the previous repair and will cost even more.
- I do not enjoy living paycheck to paycheck when cars break down.
- We did not make R.s appointment. This would be one of the appointments it took me two hours to make three months ago. The good news is that they were willing to let me bring in both R. and H. together. I'll add that concurrent appointments was what I originally wanted, but was told they couldn't do.
- So many non-holiday expenditures and appointments this week.
- D. made it home earlier in the week and it is so nice to have him home.
- After listening to D. try to explain some chemistry concepts to us at dinner, I'm pretty sure being smack in the middle of twelve children did not damage his intellect.
- Here's a pro-tip for you... If you are selling something and someone contacts you about it, don't offer it for free because you think you go to the same church and then renege that offer when you find they now attend a different church. It's really not a good look.
- The last of the things I ordered arrived today. It felt as though we were cutting things a little close.
- The weather feels a bit as though we live in the Pacific Northwest, but without the scenery.
- My laundry is so caught up that I even washed the fleece horse blanket that had been living on the laundry room floor for months. Now I need to find an actual place to store it.
- I can't wait to start on non-Christmas projects.
And other than a rehash of all the things I've checked off my many lists, that's about it. I'm off to watch White Christmas with everyone.
