Weekly update - October 27, 2023
I seem to have a lot of pictures to share this week.
- First off, here is a sunset J. caught the other night
- I came downstairs and found this huge bowl of cereal on the kitchen counter. He has been enjoying having money to buy treats, and he had bought a box of Fruit Loops. Yes, he ate it all.
- It's been a bit wet here and the horses are very muddy.
- Earlier this week, the plan was to do a blood-typing activity in biology. I had bought blood typing kits and everyone was ready to go. Well, no one was able to type their blood because no one could squeeze enough blood out. While the little safety lancets were handy and easy to use, they didn't pierce deep enough to actually be able to collect even a small amount of blood. This is everyone trying to get even a tiny drop.
- It's been all over the news today how the Chicago Police Department is going to work on finding and firing officers who belong to the Proud Boys (who were significant players in the January 6 insurrection). Yet on the same day, Congress elects as Speaker of the House an individual who denied Biden win the end and has strong ties to helping to organize the January 6 insurrection. Make it make sense. When will moderate Republicans grow a spine and get tired of the lunatic fringe running rough shod over them? I'm afraid never is the answer.
- I've been continuing to play with water colors. Because I added a few new colors, I decided to do a few color studies.
- H. asked J. to check out some library books on drawing flowers. Here is her first drawing based on some of those books.
- This afternoon Y. suddenly decided that she wanted to try to make macarons. And not just any macarons, but pandan flavored ones. (It helps that we have pandan extract in the pantry.) They were very good and very impressive for a first attempt at a slightly tricky bit of baking. We have all encouraged her to keep trying... mainly because we want to keep tasting.
And with that, I have a new library book I'm about to begin.
