Well into the holiday spirit

Not much to report from today. We got everything picked up from our party yesterday and are looking very festive. TM has spent the past two days making lovely mugs of Mexican hot cocoa which I have been enjoying very much. There is Christmas music on all the time, sometime different music in different rooms combined with someone playing carols on the piano. It is a little crazy making. I was able to spend some time spinning this afternoon and people are waiting for me to watch another Christmas move together. It's been a good weekend.

But here is something that I find vaguely disturbing. I am currently reading an Agatha Christie mystery because I find I can't concentrate on anything too serious in December. My brain is too full of too many other things. I happened to glance at the copyright date of the book because I was curious. It is 1926. In four years it will be 100 years old. I don't know about you, but I'm reeling a little bit at thinking of Agatha Christie's works as being that old. It doesn't seem right. I'm used to thinking of them in the more 50 year old category. It just seems wrong.

And with that little bit of mind blowing trivia, I'm off to watch another Christmas move and maybe have a little eggnog.

Actually I'm reading the Agatha Christie mysteries as well right now. I just love how people are just normal people even though the books are almost 100 years old. (Even better with the Jane Austen books -almost 200 years further, but humans haven 't really changed much. )

Dorothy Gilman is closer to the 50 year mark. I have one of the Mrs. Polifax books on my nightstand, and it’s from 1966.
