Showing off more new dresses

Before Christmas I came across directions for turning a woman's turtleneck sweater into a cowl-neck baby dress.  Because I was sewing pajamas during the entire month of December I didn't get a chance to try it until this past week.  But I made up for lost time, not only did I make two dresses, but I turned some extra sweater bits into matching hats and embroidered snowflakes on them as well.  (There is also a small purse, also with an embroidered snowflake that I'm going to finish and put in the shop, but it's not done yet.)  I should have taken pictures of the sweaters before I cut them up, but let's just say they are in a much nicer form now.  G. and L. wore them to church yesterday and when we came back home I tried to get some pictures of the girls wearing them.  No mean feat, let me tell you.  G. is in red and L. is in black.  And I should have rolled L.'s sleeves back down, but didn't notice it until I was uploading these pictures.  L.'s sleeves unrolled have a nice bell shape to them.

amazing upcycling! You sure you don't want to move to my state where it's all the rage! AND they are adorably cute (dresses--babies go without saying!)

You made those dresses? I had no idea! (and yes you've got me hooked as a reader of your blog) The girls looked so cute in them!! I thought for sure they were a Christmas present from an out-of-town relative who shopped at fancy stores...it's amazing how I develop these stories in my head. :)

An uncomfortable post

I hope it comes as no surprise to my readers that when I vote early next week I will be casting my ballot for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. Being in a blue state this feels as though it is a very little thing in the effort to bring our country back past the brink of no return . I'll be honest and say that I am feeling such stress and fear about this election that I can't listen to any news or look at social media for very long. The radio is pretty firmly set on our classical music station even though they are in the middle of a pledge drive. The pledge drive is preferable.  But for those of you who are supporting the other side, if there are any of you left who continue to visit my blog, here is what I need to say. Sew, Mama, Sew! Giveaway

Sew, Mama, Sew! is hosting another giveaway day , the day where many bloggers giveaway things they have made or supplies to make things or both.  It is great fun to visit a lot of blogs and try to win cool stuff.  So fun that I thought I would participate this year. I had great hopes of making a set of coordinating mother/daughter aprons.  But reality reared its ugly head and I came to terms with the fact that my time is not limitless.Instead of aprons,  I must continue to spend quality time with yards and yards of red plaid flannel.  What am I making?  Well, as I tell my children, it is the season not to ask questions...
