A weather tale or two

The big story today is the snow. It started overnight and hasn't stopped since. But before I show pictures from today, we have to back up to yesterday. Our original plan had been to go get our tree today, but driving up to Wisconsin in a snow storm did not appeal to anyone, so we had to shift. Which is why yesterday afternoon a smaller group of us went and cut out Christmas tree. It was a gorgeous day. Cold, but not unpleasant, and it was sunny.

It was a good choice because the roads today are pretty treacherous.

I think this is the optimal winter weather. Just below freezing so the pastures are frozen, but not horribly cold and the hydrants still work, and with the snow cover, ponies will be able to go out into the pasture tomorrow. (Stay tuned.) I wouldn't complain if it stayed just like this all winter.

Plus it's beautiful.

These pictures were taken about 4:30 today and it has continued to snow steadily since. I don't think it's supposed to stop until around two in the morning. It's a lot of snow.
