Our sign is correct again!

As you pull into our driveway, the first sign you see is this.


You'll notice that would be 'ducks' plural. But we haven't had more than one duck for several years. I love ducks and ducklings; I don't love brooding them. It's the biggest reason we have had just Duck for so long. L. promised she would be the one to take care of ducklings, so in February I ordered four Welsh Harlequin ducks.... three hens and a drake... with a hatch date of May 18. They have been eagerly anticipated.

Yesterday I received the notice that they had hatched and shipped. All we had to do was wait for our post office to call and say they arrived. I don't like little baby ducks (or chicks) to have to live in their shipping box longer than necessary, so I was relieved when the post office called about noon to say they had arrived. L. and I immediately cashed out to collect them. 


I'm always relieved when I peek in the box and see that everyone has survived.

L. finished getting everything ready for them and it was time to set them free in their brooder. (Aka a stock tank which has the added benefit of it being into the horse pasture when the ducklings move out, so I'll have two stock tanks out there.) 

But really, I'm sure you'd wish I'd get on with it and just show you the ducklings. They're pretty cute.

Sew, Mama, Sew! Giveaway

Sew, Mama, Sew! is hosting another giveaway day , the day where many bloggers giveaway things they have made or supplies to make things or both.  It is great fun to visit a lot of blogs and try to win cool stuff.  So fun that I thought I would participate this year. The mystery of the missing soap

You all know that I am an avid reader of mysteries, but sometimes we have our own real life mysteries here as well. Take the case of the missing soap. One of our bathrooms upstairs is the children's bathrooms, whose sink is lower than other sinks upstairs. Now, since it is the children's bathroom, it is not always pristine and things cannot always be found when they are needed. Are we the only house where things just randomly vanish, never to be seen again? This happens fairly frequently. Often the items are too big to have been taken by Borrowers , but every human in the house disavows any knowledge of the missing item. As far as they are concerned, they never even knew said item existed, so how could they have taken it?
