Horses and fiber, fiber and horses

It's April, the weather might actually be getting warm and I'm thinking about all the spring and summer activities I'm doing. I went from nothing on the calendar to quite a bit on the calendar. The title pretty much sums up what I'll be doing. 

First up is May 2 when I'll be at the Fiber and Fabric Craft Festival which is being held in the Chicago area. I'll be demonstrating both weaving and flat pattern drafting at Fine Line Creative Arts Center's booth. The festival is kind of a big deal in the sewing/crafting world and I'm pretty excited. If you're going, stop by to say hi. 

Next, on the weekend of May 15, I'll be flying to New Hampshire to attend the Horses and Healing Symposium where my friends from Athena and AAHEP are the keynote speakers. So, not only do I get to attend an interesting conference, I get to catch-up with friends whom I haven't seen in person for a while. 

The next weekend, on the 23rd, I'll be demonstrating weaving at the St. Charles Art Fair at the Fine Line booth. 

Meanwhile, the week in-between those two things another online Foundational Certificate in Equines Assisted Services starts that I will be co-facilitating for Athena. That will run for the next seven weeks. 

Finally, on August 1-4, I will be back in New Hampshire helping to facilitate a Certificate in Equine Assisted Services for Mental Health Professionals, which has accreditation for 26 hours of CE credit and has been approved by the NBC. 

There might be one more weaving demonstration gig in there as well. 

It's not a bad way to spend a spring and summer, getting to alternate back and forth between two things I really love and care about, is it?

Sew, Mama, Sew! Giveaway

Sew, Mama, Sew! is hosting another giveaway day , the day where many bloggers giveaway things they have made or supplies to make things or both.  It is great fun to visit a lot of blogs and try to win cool stuff.  So fun that I thought I would participate this year. I had great hopes of making a set of coordinating mother/daughter aprons.  But reality reared its ugly head and I came to terms with the fact that my time is not limitless.Instead of aprons,  I must continue to spend quality time with yards and yards of red plaid flannel.  What am I making?  Well, as I tell my children, it is the season not to ask questions... The mystery of the missing soap

You all know that I am an avid reader of mysteries, but sometimes we have our own real life mysteries here as well. Take the case of the missing soap. One of our bathrooms upstairs is the children's bathrooms, whose sink is lower than other sinks upstairs. Now, since it is the children's bathroom, it is not always pristine and things cannot always be found when they are needed. Are we the only house where things just randomly vanish, never to be seen again? This happens fairly frequently. Often the items are too big to have been taken by Borrowers , but every human in the house disavows any knowledge of the missing item. As far as they are concerned, they never even knew said item existed, so how could they have taken it? Often Mr. Nobody gets the blame and we move one, the item sometimes resurfacing at a later date and sometimes not.
