Pervasive anxiety

I don't know about you, but the closer we get to November 5, the more my stress level increases. When I lay down in the other night, I realized that my shoulders ached from the amount of tension I am holding in them. And it doesn't help my ability to relax when the Republican candidate suggests that executing Liz Cheney is a good idea. Well, that doesn't surprise me, but the absolute silence from his party is staggering, as well as the absolute silence from his supporters. That is what I find terrifying. After years of being lied to, it seems his followers have lost any moral compass they might have once had. Oh, but I should amend the statement about his party. They did respond by saying he didn't say what he says, even though there is video that he said it.

J. and I have voted. Many of our children have already voted. K. voted for the first time. We have done what we can. It feels like so little. Lord have mercy.

You probably need to look at cat pictures now as much as I do.

My feelings well. The best thing I did was to attend a rally. It felt so good to be in a room of like minded folks- 10,000 people! To hear the roar when Kamala said she would be president for all, work to provide housing, health care, protect women's rights,....was thrilling. Then it is back to the real world with my neighbors Trump signs about guns and swear words. Give me kitty photos!!

I had an out of body experience last night. I really try to just shut it down. But I can’t seem to get away from the ads and the pervasive impending doom that overcomes me. Out here in the Wild West Kari Lake is spewing her insanity nonstop about the border and abortion and there are these cray cray self made campaign signs that are being made by some real looney toons. The worst part is my parents are fully behind him, which just creates such cognitive and emotional dissonance for me. He turns off the Fox News when I come over but I know they are just plugged into the programming all day.

Believe me, here in Germany the people are fearing the worst and - from the distance - having trouble understanding why anyone could vote for a lunatic like Trump. You can feel the tension all around. Lets hope for a miracle.
