Resorting to sheep pictures one more time

I have peopled for four days. We finished the Equine Assisted Activities training today. It went very well and I actually enjoy being part of the training team, but it also means I didn't have nearly as much down time as I am used to. I pretty much crashed into bed every night. Tomorrow all we have on the calendar is school and the grocery store which sounds pretty good to me. It was sad to say goodbye to my friend who was here from the UK to run the training, though. 

So one more time, I am going to resort to sheep pictures. These are some that Y. took and I think they are really good.

What a day, what a day...

... for an auto-da-fé.  If you are familiar with Leonard Bernstein's music for Candide, then you now have an ear worm in your head. You can join me. As I have mentioned before, our teatime chapter book deals with the Spanish Inquisition and the horrific practice of auto-da-fé. [Am I the only one who cannot read the words 'Spanish Inquisition' without suddenly having Monty Python pop into my head?] Then in the literature class I'm teaching, we are doing Candide by Voltaire this week. So that explains a bit about the soundtrack in my head. But there is another piece to the puzzle that was highlighted tonight. The Spanish Inquisition was so convinced that they had the one right way of having faith, were so afraid of those who were different, and given such large amounts of power that it lead to unspeakable atrocities. No one learns from history, do they? Whenever a group has decided that they have all the right answers that must be imposed upon others, bad things happen. P

Sew, Mama, Sew! Giveaway

Sew, Mama, Sew! is hosting another giveaway day , the day where many bloggers giveaway things they have made or supplies to make things or both.  It is great fun to visit a lot of blogs and try to win cool stuff.  So fun that I thought I would participate this year. I had great hopes of making a set of coordinating mother/daughter aprons.  But reality reared its ugly head and I came to terms with the fact that my time is not limitless.Instead of aprons,  I must continue to spend quality time with yards and yards of red plaid flannel.  What am I making?  Well, as I tell my children, it is the season not to ask questions... I will be able to let you know sometime after the 25th.
