My children have discovered a love of Star Trek
Captain's Log
Quarantine date: 58.75
We remain in a holding pattern being unable to move the ship out of its current orbit. We are in no current danger and are waiting until we are free to move again. Star Fleet's current orders regarding future movement have not been entirely clear.
The crew is faring well for the most part, though it seems that time is starting to hang heavy on their hands. Getting some semblance of fresh air and freedom by visiting the various outdoor programming on the holodeck has proven popular and healthy, but for some inexplicable reason the holodeck can only produce outside venues with pouring rain at the moment. We are having engineering look into the matter, but for the most part the crew has not wanted to make us of this particular form of entertainment.
Another popular form of recreation that the crew has been making use of is to search the computer database for archaic entertainment in the form of 20th century television shows. A show called MacGyver and another about futuristic space travel have proven to be quite popular. I have to admit to being rather a fan of the space show as I enjoy the portrayal of the captain.
While some members of the crew continue to have work imperative to the running of the ship or ongoing projects which require their attention, others have found that their responsibilities quite a bit lightened. Plans are being made to find productive ways for these crew members to spend their time. I am somewhat concerned that too much idle time could end up having a negative effect on the ship as a whole.
Small personal craft have occasionally been taken by individual crew members to the planet below in order to obtain necessary supplies. In order not to come in contact with any of the planet's inhabitants, this must be done with a great deal of caution. We are grateful that the ship can generate most of our supplies as the planet seems to be suffering from sporadic and varied shortages. While the job of flying supply missions carries with it some degree of risk, there have been a great many volunteers from the crew to be assigned to the job.
We eagerly await the moment when we are again free to continue the mission of this ship.
