No fiber Monday

Because there is nothing to show. I've nearly finished L.'s vest, but that little bit of sewing is the only sewing I've done since last weekend. Panicked? No, why do you ask? On Wednesday the week calms down a bit so I'm hopeful that I can spend some time in the studio. We'll see how the weekend goes, because I may have to cancel my part of school next week. 

Really the only fiber related pictures I have to show is on the hoof and not so good for wearing to a wedding.



I'm sure the sheep pictures will slow down eventually.

Making bias tape... otherwise known as the Sew, Mama, Sew! Giveaway

What a day, what a day...

... for an auto-da-fé.  If you are familiar with Leonard Bernstein's music for Candide, then you now have an ear worm in your head. You can join me. As I have mentioned before, our teatime chapter book deals with the Spanish Inquisition and the horrific practice of auto-da-fé. [Am I the only one who cannot read the words 'Spanish Inquisition' without suddenly having Monty Python pop into my head?] Then in the literature class I'm teaching, we are doing Candide by Voltaire this week. So that explains a bit about the soundtrack in my head. But there is another piece to the puzzle that was highlighted tonight. The Spanish Inquisition was so convinced that they had the one right way of having faith, were so afraid of those who were different, and given such large amounts of power that it lead to unspeakable atrocities. Sew, Mama, Sew! Giveaway

Sew, Mama, Sew! is hosting another giveaway day , the day where many bloggers giveaway things they have made or supplies to make things or both.  It is great fun to visit a lot of blogs and try to win cool stuff.  So fun that I thought I would participate this year. I had great hopes of making a set of coordinating mother/daughter aprons.  But reality reared its ugly head and I came to terms with the fact that my time is not limitless.Instead of aprons,  I must continue to spend quality time with yards and yards of red plaid flannel.  What am I making?  Well, as I tell my children, it is the season not to ask questions...
