Foul fowl
I do not think it is coincidence that the two words in the title are homonyms. There is truly very little more more foul than a duck (or 6) kept inside your house. They are just so messy and stinky.
Do you see that mess? That is less than 24 hours from having cleaned the brooder. This small picture does not really give the actual scope of the mess, nor does is give the odor that goes along with it. I'm afraid we have now reached the point in the ducklings development where nightly baths and full clean outs of the brooder are necessary.
But I have to say, ducklings in the bathtub are still pretty fun. And it makes them clean so that you can briefly go back to thinking they are cute. It is really hard to think a dirty duckling which has been wallowing in its own filth for several hours is cute.
Here are the cute ducklings.
See how much bigger they are? They are four weeks old today. We are three weeks away from them being old enough to go outside. That is assuming the weather actually cooperates and decides to become spring. Oh, how we are all longing for spring!
