Redeeming the pain

No one should ever have to plan a funeral for an 11 year old daughter, yet it happens. And when it happens to a friend, you go to the funeral. This is where J. and I found ourselves this afternoon. The only reason I'm sharing this is that my friend is doing her best to redeem her pain and loss. As a result, in her daughter's memory, she has begun the ElenaJane Foundation for Developmental Truama. She is hoping this foundation can become a vehicle to help other families who have children who are affected by the past trauma in their lives. As you can imagine, this cause is near and dear to my heart.

I know I have been asking you to support a lot of different causes and children recently and that money is tight for everyone. But each of these things falls under the heading of helping widows and orphans. Not everyone is called to adopt, but we can all help. Not all adoptive families will face parenting a child with severe developmental trauma, but I'm hoping that this foundation becomes a tangible source of help for these families. They are worthy things to support with your checkbook.

Checks can be sent to:

ElenaJane Foundation for Developmental Trauma

Thank you.
