String piecing

My sewing machine and I became reaquainted over the weekend while I made my first attempt at string piecing.  I love it since it uses all those little tiny scraps that I so dutifully save because I can't bear to throw them out.  (I also tried my hand at free motion quilting, but you can't see it in the photograph.)  And before you think I have officially lost my mind or have way too much time on my hands, these pieces of piecing are going to become something.  Really.  I just can't tell you about it until next week.  I hope it all works out as nicely in real life as it looks in my head.

And here is L. (mainly because I found the picture on my camera as I was uploading the first one).  She is nearly officially walking now.  I forget how much more a baby can reach when they become bipedal.  G. is still solely crawling.  She will stand up and look as though she is going to take a step and then drops down on her knees again.
